Ikelite 6282.70 Underwater Camera Housing for Nikon COOLPIX S7000, Clear

$247.85
Description
Capture vibrant images and video of sting rays, parrot fish, and coral at up to 200′ beneath the surface with this Ikelite Underwater Housing and Nikon COOLPIX S7000 Digital Camera Kit from B&H Photo. The package bundles the #6282.70 waterproof enclosure with the compact point-and-shoot to get you started on your adventures under the sea.
The housing allows the camera’s flash to trigger an optional, external AF35 AutoFlash strobe as a wireless slave, replicating TTL exposure. As an alternative, two fiber-optic ports are provided for connecting optional cables. The housing also includes a diffuser to soften your built-in flash and a deflector to redirect the light towards an external strobe. Built for durability, the housing is designed, constructed by hand, and tested in the USA. A corrosion-resistant, clear polycarbonate body offers a full view of the camera and allows you to monitor the O-ring seal. Large, ergonomic mechanical controls provide access to all camera functions. Additionally, a built-in, flat glass lens port with a 3.9″ diameter accepts optional color-correction filters and external accessory lenses.
Nikon’s COOLPIX S7000 camera features a 16MP, 1/2.3″ CMOS image sensor for high-resolution imagery, 9.2-fps continuous shooting, low-light sensitivity up to ISO 6400, and full HD 1080p video recording at 30 fps. The NIKKOR zoom lens has a 35mm-equivalent focal length range of 25-500mm, covering wide-angle to long telephoto perspectives. The camera is also equipped with a large 3.0″, 460k-dot LCD monitor that has an anti-reflective coating and 5-level brightness adjustment. Benefit from 18 scene modes, including Beach, Snow, and Sunset, to give your images extra creative touches. Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity pair with Nikon snapbridge, allowing you to send images easily from the S7000 to your compatible smart device and then share them on your favorite social media sites.

Valeriane McNeill –
I live & work overseas, and I dive as much as I can, usually in the Red Sea, where the flora & fauna are gorgeous. I’ve wanted to capture images during my dives. I wanted something a little better than a GoPros, but didn’t want to spend the thousands of dollars necessary to use my Nikon DSLR underwater. So, this unit was a compromise, along with what I thought would be a good strobe (see related review of Sea & Sea YS-03).
Bottom line is, it takes a little getting used to but this case performed flawlessly. The one issue I had, and the only one that kept me from giving a 5 star rating, is the zoom lever – it is very awkward and difficult to operate while diving. When I consider the many knobs and levers that are necessary to operate this camera at 15 – 20 meters, that’s a relatively small issue. However, I use the zoom control often, so it’s definitely worth the mention.
I took an empty case with tissues inside before using it with my camera; I’m happy to report that the case has been bone dry from the beginning. I used it on a half dozen dives in the Red Sea, and it worked beautifully. I should add that you really need a strobe and/or red filter for quality underwater photos, but I’m sure that if you’re buying this case you already know that.
One more thing: the seller, DiveCatalog, earns top reviews for delivery and for finally resolving a related issue (same order, different product), but there were some communications problems in the middle.
